Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares reports and conducts moderately complex analysis of financial data on a timely basis; prepares ledgers and makes journal entries
- Is responsible for fixed asset or inventory accounting; prepares trial balance or financial statements; reviews the reports and analysis for accuracy
- Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established policies and procedures. Operates independently under limited supervision.
- Presents findings and supporting financial information; prepares appropriate commentary or explanations relating to issues/information of particular interest; uses judgment to determine which issues/information warrant closer attention. May conduct investigations of accounts, if needed.
- Communicates with operating or staff personnel to supply or explain data, secure information, or offer additional support. May provide advice on accounting-related issues, using proven and documented principles to support recommendations. Represents organization as a prime contact on projects. Interacts with senior internal and external staff on significant matters often requiring coordination.
- Identifies accounting systems that need strengthening and makes appropriate recommendations for improvement
- Participates in special projects to provide moderately complex accounting information and support
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills:
· A bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or equivalent
· Professional certification (CPA, CMA, etc) preferred
· At least 3-5 years of experience in general accounting and financial reporting
· Advanced knowledge of general accounting principles and practices
· Proficiency with financial systems and standard software applications (Peoplesoft, Microsoft Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Word)
· Excellent written and communication skills in English
· Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills
· Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.
